A guide to trusted services offering advice, signposting and mental health support — for anyone in our school community who needs a little extra help.

Below you'll find a range of services and advice organisations that can support you and your child with safeguarding, well-being and other everyday concerns.

All of the organisations listed offer advice, signposting or mental health support. However, if you are a student or parent/carer struggling with your own mental health, or worried about someone else's, please contact the school directly for further support, or speak to your GP.

Our approach

Brookhaven is now a Thrive School

Thrive is a whole-school approach to social and emotional development. Becoming a Thrive School means every member of staff at Brookhaven works from the same understanding of how children develop, and of what behaviour is telling us.

  • Trained staff on site

    Members of our team train as Thrive Licensed Practitioners, so the expertise to assess need and plan support sits inside the school rather than on a waiting list.

  • Behaviour read as communication

    Rather than responding to behaviour on its own terms, staff look at the developmental need behind it and respond in a way that helps that need move forward.

  • Progress you can see

    Each child has a developmental profile and a personalised action plan. Small steps are tracked over time, which gives us clear evidence to bring to EHCP reviews and to conversations with you.

    Open access support for families where a child has an autism diagnosis, covering assessment, intervention and day-to-day support. Staffed 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).

    Mental Health Support Team (MHST)

    A local NHS service helping students with low mood, anxiety, sleep difficulties, worry and panic. Speak to a member of staff for a referral, or self-refer directly.

    The Mix

    Free, confidential support for those aged 11–25 — from mental health and loneliness to money, break-ups or social media. Join an online community or refer for counselling.

    NHS 111 Mental Health
